Viber review
February 29, 2012
What is Viber?
Viber is an app that allows users to make calls and send text messages to other users anywhere in the world for free.

Why Viber?
Viber integrates flawlessly with the existing contacts in your address book, has superb sound quality and once activated, does not require a PIN, username or any other payments as all Viber features are 100% free! It is the cheaper alternative to standard SMS or phone calls and is highly recommended for international contact – you can make overseas calls to friends and family at data rates instead of international phone rates. If you are connected to a WiFi network, you use your bandwidth (cap) to make calls/send messages. Therefore, if you have an uncapped internet account and you make a call (local or international) the ONLY payment used for that will be your monthly premium towards your internet service provider.

Who supports Viber?
Viber is supported only by the Apple iPhone and Android platforms. It has been rumoured that BlackBerry also supports Viber, but no official release date has been given to this claim.
How do I download Viber?
Simply point your Apple iPhone or Android smartphone to www.viber.com.
Small print
If you intend to start using Viber, it is recommended that you have WiFi or a data plan as Viber uses 2G/3G data to exchange messages and VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) and a data plan would curb the data charges used by Viber. Having said that, Viber will ONLY use your internet plan to send and receive data and it does not bill you for a standard phone call or text message.
